Component Failed To Load - Error Message

I am getting this message almost every other time I do anything in Adaptive. Do you know what's causing it?



Web browsers and Java save files onto your computer when you visit websites. Because your browser can display the files stored in its cache much faster than it can pull fresh files from a server, the next time you visit that site, the use of cached files will help cut down page load time. Sometimes a corrupted or stale file in the cache can prevent an application from running. You can safely delete the temporary files that Java and your browser downloads since they will download them again and ensure they are up-to-date.

A component failed to load message indicates that the caches should be cleared. The steps are below:

How to clear the Java cache:

  1. Open the Java Control Panel.
    • Windows 7: Start button > Control Panel > Programs > Java
    • Windows XP: Start button > Control Panel > Java (32-bit)
    • Mac: Apple icon > System Preferences > Java
  2. In the Java Control Panel, from the General tab, select the Settings… button under Temporary Internet Files.
  3. Select Delete Files…
  4. Select Trace and Log Files, Caches Applications and Applets and Installed Applications and Applets.
  5. Click OK.

How to clear the browser cache:

Internet Explorer

  1. In Internet Explorer go to Tools.
  2. Select Internet Options.
  3. From the General tab, select the Delete… button under Browsing History.
  4. Unselect Preserve Favorites website data and select Temporary Internet files, Cookies and website data, History and Download History.
  5. Click Delete.


  1. In Firefox click on the Firefox button.
  2. Select History.
  3. Click Clear Recent History…
  4. Set Time range to clear: to Everything.
  5. Select all options under Details.
  6. Click Clear Now.

After clearing the caches, exit out of your browser completely before trying to access Adaptive Planning again.

How to Clear Your Browser and Java Cache on a Mac

How to clear the Java cache:

  1. Click on Apple icon at the top of your screen.
  2. Click the System Preferences icon to open.
  3. Click on Java icon located under the Other section to open Java Control Panel.
  4. Click on the Delete Files button on Temporary Internet Files window.
  5. This will open the Delete Files and Applications window, click OK to confirm delete.

How to Clear the Firefox Cache:

  1. On the menu bar, click on the Firefox menu and select Preferences...
  2. Select the Advanced panel.
  3. Click on the Network tab.
  4. In the Cached Web Content section, click Clear Now.
